Thomas the Train: Take-n-Play Tote-a-Train Playbox

Fits some wooden trains
This is great for traveling. It is the only thing I have found that stores Thomas trains - even though it's take n' play, the wooden engines can also fit in some of the spots (though there is not much room for the long trains). My son (2 1/2) was amazingly entertained on an airplane and in our hotel by the tiny little oval track.
Room for the whole Steam Team (plus an extra space!)
The outside of this Tote-a-Train, equipped with a handle and very sturdy, has Thomas' big, happy face; upon opening it up, there are 9 different compartments for train storage - enough for the entire Steam Team (Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Emily) PLUS one! But ALSO included is a circular track with a stop signal arm! The area inside the track depicts various elements of places and activities on the Island of Sodor. While it can connect up to other playsets at two points, my grandson's Tote-a-Train usually sits on a shelf with his Thomas books & DVDs (closed up with Thomas' happy smile showing!), but anytime we go someplace where he wants to introduce someone to the whole Steam Team, THIS is the playset he takes! The Tote-a-Train first appeared on TnP's original Spring 2010 Collector Checklist, and we paid $14.97 for our grandson's. (Update: Fisher-Price's summer 2013 MSRP is $16.)

More entertainment than I thought!
My son received this for Christmas and has proved to be the BEST gift he got! It has provided hours and hours of entertainment. I never would have imagined he would like it this much. Just the little circle track inside has been fun for him. Now I am on a mission to find the tracks that attach to it so he can add on. I simply bought this for storage. I did not think he would get playtime out of it!

Very durable, simple to use, and lot of fun! It is pretty impressive as to what it can do.

This is my first time successfully using an RC vehicle. Runs easily, easy to control speed and steer, and great to play with for all ages. Laborious to open, with all of the twist ties; but, hey, free high quailty twist ties. Nice 'display box' as a gift and packed well by the manufacturer. Simple to use by most, works in tall grass, excellent RC distance.

Seems like AWD but I think it has just front and rear motors, and articulates well. Good traction on all surfaces used on. Kirkland 'AA' batteries (6 you place in the car, simple plastic lock door) lasted 3 days with lots of tough use and continued to last over a week with reasonable use; most of his things are broken within a day. The 9-volt battery in the remote transmitter works longer than the 6AA's in the car. You do not need expensive batteries but for the 9VDC remote I use a Li-Ion fire detector battery (regular...

I bought this to have at Grandma's house when the grandkids come for a visit. It's the biggest hit with all ages. They can't wait to get out the "cars" and play for hours. I ordered more cars as the grandkid numbers kept expanding. Well worth the money.
neo tracks
My 7 year old daughter and my 3 year old son who is diagnosed with PDD-NOS which is on the Autism Spectrum loves this toy. I love it to because it is super easy to assemble and dissassemble. I actually roll the track up and put parts in a zip lock bag.

Nice little starter set for the toddler
This set is exactly what I sought as birthday present for a toddler. It is very simple. A two to three year old will find the tracks a bit of a puzzle, and their imigination will be given a chance to explore a variety of assembly sequences, not all of which end up in a figure 8! I hope to add to this as time goes on.

Awesome toy for boys!
I don't review many products, but my kids keep coming back to this toy over and over again. My son picked this toy for his 7th birthday, what a hit! My 5 year son old loves this toy just as much. Matchbox hit a winner. With fierce competition from Wii, computer, i touch, DSi, and television, it is not that easy to get them to play with toys these days. Playing with this toy has prompted them to take out toys that they have not played with in quite some time (great side effect). The action figures have weighed boots, so they always land in an upright position. My boys, for some reason, really love that. The toy comes with 4 different big boots action figures. Just think of how many toys you buy for kids with only one action figure included. It offers all the things my boys really like......action figures, a spring fed claw, catapult, dinosaur, and a cannon. It seems to be well built, and rugged. The only suggestion that I have is to have a better place for the tools that come...
My son loves it.
My son had seen the commercial, and from then on that's all he asked for. He was so excited when it showed up in the mail. The more actions he figured out, the more excited he got. He wanted to take this thing everywhere, school, grocery, etc. Since he was so excited about this one, I also ordered him the chopper, so he could do bigger scenarios. These are now his 2 favorite toys, and trust me when I say, it's almost an actual Toys R Us at my house. So that says alot about these 2. Thanks. Great durable product. Has many actions. CATERPILLAR small Excavator

Ginchy but pinchy
My preschooler loves this excavator. In the morning he will play with it for hours in his playroom, and still drag it out with him to the sandbox or garden for the afternoon. He never tires of it. Being a typically sturdy Bruder toy, it will probably never tire of him, either.

That said, it is a nasty piece of work on his tiny, tender hands! Each time he's played with it since we gave it to him for his birthday last week, it has pinched him somewhere. His palms and fingers have little purple bruises from the pinches. I haven't yet identified why this particular model does this. He has two other, larger Bruder diggers/trucks which have never "bitten" him.

If this were a lesser-loved toy, I'd just take it away from him. But fat chance -- he LOVES this toy. Instead I'll just have to keep telling him to play more gently with it.
Great toy, but can be pinchy.
My 2.5 year old boy loves this toy and wants to play in the sandbox with it all day if I let him. He can be rough with his toys, but this particular toy seems to be holding up pretty well w/o any damage from my little monster. As one of the reviewers mentioned, it can potentially pinch little fingers. It's because the handle attached to the boom requires some coordination to operate... and most toddlers don't have that coordination. It even took me some practice to maneuver it in order to scoop sand w/ it. So the little boy rather likes to hold the arm of the excavator and scoop sand with the bucket directly w/o using the handle. Doing so, his fingers sometimes get pinched between the hydraulics and arm of the excavator. My boy learned it quickly and he avoids getting his fingers pinched... and it doesn't seem to be a big problem. I guess that's part of learning toddlers get with this toy. Overall, this is a great toy except for the price. But it's made in Germany not in...

My son is pretty tough on toys but this one held up great. It has dug and dug and dug some more. It is very detailed. The feet came off once or twice but they snap right back. Hoses off just great.

Breyer Horse Crazy Truck and Trailer

TOTAL JUNK
This toy is so flimsy, cheaply made with very thin plastic. The trailer doors won't even stay shut. I imagine it will break soon. The high price is outrageous for the low quality delivered.Really, really not worth it.
Not so horse crazy!
We ordered the crazy horse truck for our five year old daughter for Christmas. Although our daughter loves it, we were not too crazy about it. It is made with cheep plastic and the back door of the trailer doesn't stay closed while my daughter is driving it around the house. I'm very disappointed and I just hope it lasts till next Christmas.
Cheaply made... Disappointed
My daughter absolutely loves horses and when she saw this she just had to have it. However, it is not what I would expect from a Breyer product. The back doors to the trailer do not even close. The side mirrors fell off within hours of normal play and the lid pops off every time she opens it. I also purchased a set of Breyer horses to go with it, the legs of which broke off after the first day.

My love affair with Green Toys began when my then 2 year old received his Garbage Truck; he plays and he plays hard. He will put his full weight onto the toy as he rolls it around on our concrete patio - there is expected wear and tear but these toys are durable!

My son's love for Waste Management has grown to also encompass out-worldly pursuits and this new offering has him enthralled.

Toy arrives with 100% recyclable packaging and the toys themselves are #2 plastic so when the time comes it can be inherited by his younger brother and eventually recycled itself.

I am sincerely hard pressed to find anything critical to say about this product.
In love with GREEN TOYS
As a mother of 3 young children and a pediatric nurse, safety is my number one priority when it comes to toys. I also prefer more simple, well made toys that require a child to use their imagination and will appeal to all of their senses.

My 3 year old son received this rocket for his recent birthday and he can't get enough of it. I can't say enough about Green Toys! I love the fact that the toys are made in the USA and don't mind spending a bit more as a result, especially if it means an American can obtain and/or keep his/her job. I also love the fact that the toys are made from recycled milk jugs. Way to go Green Toys! I also own the dish set, cookware set, tug boat bath toy, tea set, large building blocks, peapod planting/flower pot set, 2 race cars and the pink dump truck. All of the toys seem well made (lightweight yet sturdy). I opted to replace some of my older toys with these safer, sturdier ones. I am going to have a very hard time giving away these toys...

The Automoblox Mini A9/Mini X9-X/Mini M9 (3-Pack)

One of Our Most Favorite Toys
These are among the most simple but clever toys we have seen. Our 3 1/2 yr old son got the mini set as a gift a few years ago and they are still his most favorite toys. He also got one of the larger ones, which has not been as popular with him maybe b/c he has only one and can't interchange the parts. He really loves to mix and match the minis and to create stretch limousines w/the parts! My only compalaint is that he's already managed to break several of the rubber tires, although it's not surprising since this kid manages to break practically anything and usually does so within the first few hours of playing with it (the Automoblox lasted for several months without any damage!). I was glad to see from someone else's review that you can re-order missing or broken parts (we've also managed to lose a few of the wheels and tires even though we don't let him take them out of the house... hmmm). A little pricey but cool toy
My 7 year old loves automoblox...they are well made and durable. They seem a bit expensive but on the flip side will probably last a lot longer than some of his other toys that are similar to these. I would definitely recommend them for any young boys who are into cars!

Talking Henry
This is my sons favorite toy right now. He has had Henry for a few months and he still dosent stop playing with him. When he meets a new kid he says "I have talking Henry" and usually the other kid looks at him weird.

Hot Wheels Loop and Jump Track Set

Found this for $9.99 at Target their regular price!!
I have no problem with this toy. I had one when I was a child and just bought one for my three year old grandson. The problem with Amazon is their prices!! This is 9.99 at Target 12.99 at Wal-Mart. You get the idea, why would Amazon hike the price up that much? It is worth 10 or 15 dollars, no way is it worth Amazons inflated price! Makes me very leary of buying anything I don't know the price of somewhere else!
My Son Loves it
This is a basic loop and jump but works perfectly. My son doesnt get frustrated because it always works. Its nice to have a reliable toy that is not too fancy but just works as expected.
Fun but Overpriced
Not a bad little toy but really not worth more than $10. The quality of this toy has gone down significantly over the years and it is not the same quality toy from years past. The track is short, the loop is small and the thing is so light weight that it moves every time you send a car down.

Still a fun toy but don't pay the $24 many vendors are asking for it.

Kid Galaxy Morphibians Rover (Colors May Vary)

Rugged, interesting RC car for little ones
My 4 year-old son just received the Morphibian Rover for Christmas, and so far he and I have had a ton of fun playing with it. The "tank drive" mechanism means that the two joysticks on the remote drive the left and right wheels respectively, which in a way is more intuitive than the usual forward/back and left/right sticks you find on other cars. He's getting pretty good at it, although the turning can be baffling when the the car is heading toward you rather than away.

Right off the bat I noticed two things:
1) The car takes AA batteries, but the remote takes AAA. Odd, but not really a problem. The car, being amphibious, hides the battery compartment under two covers, with a rubber seal on the inside one and (cleverly) only two screws to undo. So far battery life has been good, but with the amount of use we've given it in only two days I keep expecting them to conk.

2) The drive mechanism has a stutter to it. Perhaps this is only our car, or weak...
Very Durable
I bought this during Christmas 08 and it was lying in my room for a long time. I presented this to my nephew during this summer and he spent a whole month with it. I would call this very durable with the hard outer shell and it is very likely that most kids would not break this for about 6 months.

We had a lot of fun playing with this toy all over the place and also in the bath and this toy is really DURABLE and is a lot of fun to play with.

At the end of the month, we tried it in the beach and obviously the big toy broke.

The battery life is quite average, since this toy is very BIG and is not suited for small kids.

Daughter likes to run over my toes with her remote toy
My daughter likes to push buttons, still at age 6. This remote controlled car is very durable and offers a great opportunity to push buttons. We haven't tried it in water yet, but plan to soon. It took her a short while to figure out how to control the car. Inserting the battery in the car was a bit of challenge because the screw is so deep in the back of the car it required a long thin handle screwdriver to lossen the screw.

Micro Chargers Crash Track Race Track

Awesome toy
I bought this with half my brain thinking it would work and half of it not. I was so glad when I raced the car for the first time and it worked. The car works surprisingly well and make about 10 laps in one charge. I would recommend this to any child who loves seeing cars race around a track at high speeds! :-)

The cars go really fast and stay on the track. Track size is rather small so I recommend you combine several tracks. You can also dragrace on a hard surface.

Kettler CAT Digger

expensive, but a decent toy
My 3 year old son loves this. It's very sturdy and can really dig (in soft dirt or sand only) it won't break ground though. It's easy to maneuver & he fits on it perfectly; in fact it's a little big for him, and he's a big three year old too(45lbs, & 3.5 ft tall) It's the perfect size for my 7 year old who also plays with it. I wish it wasn't so expensive though. As nice as it is, I have to say that it IS overpriced. But if you're like me & know that your kid would love it, you won't be sorry if you get it for him.
Fun for a little kid!
I got this as a birthday present for my girlfriend's son for his 5th birthday. he went gaga over it, and used it constantly in the sand box. It is fairly sturdy and easy to use. It hold a decent amount of weight. I could sit on it and I'm 175lbs and it held up. It's a great toy!
Quality, tough, Son Loves it
I chose this over other diggers based on the good name of Kettler. But I'm still surprise even after a month of Hard use by my rough and tough 5 and 2 year old how this toy holds up. We've had no ,issues, and Love it.

Star Wars Return of the Jedi ATST Scout Walker

Way cool for collectors
I was waay excited to get this one. This is the same toy they packed in the Walmart Exclusive AT-ST and the same AT-ST they put in the Attack on Hoth battle pack except it doesn't come with ANY pilot figures and it has some really nice "battle damage." The toy is balanced on very articulated ratcheted legs, so it's stable when you manage to balance it. But it can be really frustrating to move the legs to balance it, so I wouldn't recommend it for smaller kids who get frustrated with their toys (I remember how disappointing that was as a kid!) But WATCH OUT for toy scalpers. I bought it for $34.99USD from KMart.com (on December 2012) because this one is a Kmart exclusive toy.

Buy a doll stand - Great value!
Yes, this toy is the most colossally frustrating thing to attempt to stand up that you have ever touched. If you insist on making it stand on its own then use this method: hold it down by the feet (posed to your own preference) on a surface preferably smooth and level and pull the head and body UP - all the while keeping the feet down - until you get a feel for where the center of gravity is and it stands. This is tricky and takes some patience, but it will eventually work.

The easier method is to buy a tall (eight inch) metal doll stand for about $3.00 (Michaels) - the type with the waist-ring to support the body underneath. BEFORE you assemble the AT-ST's head and legs, use clear slim elastic bands (the type Star wars toys come packed with - there's one that keeps the AT-ST's hatch closed included) to strap the body platform to the stand. Snap on the head and legs and you will then be able to pose your AT-ST any way you like without it toppling over.

This is poorly made
I got this for my 4 year old son because he is loving Star Wars now. Wish there was an AT-AT that was more affordable. We got this as a sub and it is more of a pain than fun. It is not steading and can't really stand on its own. The main cabin pops off all the time. The lid to the cabin pops off and the shooters don't stay in. I wish they had more durable original Star Wars available. Do not recommend!

Bruder Toys Mack Granite Garbage Truck (Ruby, Red, Green)

It's not a garbage truck....
It's not a garbage truck... It's an awesome truck! My 4 yr old already has 3 other Bruder trucks, and this one is the best one yet. I got it in the mail and showed my husband before I wrapped it for my kiddos birthday and my husband didn't want to put it back in the box.
The working parts and easy of playing is child's play. I tore & crumpled sheets of paper, that is literally enough fun for hours. For a toy to be that cool and keep a 4 year old's attention for that long is awesome. So it will be hard deciding which Bruder truck we buy for Christmas.
We have noticed the more money you spend the cooler the toy. It's a good/bad thing, but so far it has also been worth the money.
One of my sons favorites!
Like many kids, my son is obsessed with garbage trucks. He just turned 2 and we purchased this for him when he was about 1 and a half so much earlier than the recommendation. Even though that's the case, he just absolutely loves it. It's big and just absolutely beautiful and detailed. Most importantly, it's functional and durable. Even though we have had it for 6 months, it looks brand new. Nothing is broken even though he runs it in to walls and is not gentle with any of the moving parts.

Probably the best feature is that it actually comes with two trash bins that can fit on the back and have flip covers that can dump "Trash" into the trash truck and then be flipped in to a different compartment. It also has two doors that open so an action figure that is purchased separately could be placed inside. My son's favorite toy!
I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday. It is now his absolute favorite toy. He plays with it everyday for the past 4 months. The details are great and it seems very durable. The mechanism for dumping the cans, compressing the garbage and emptying the garbage are fun and easy to use. It is quite big and sturdy. An investment, yes, but for us it was well worth it. If your child is into garbage trucks this is the primo one out there.

Kid Galaxy "My 1st RC" Train

Didn't work correctly
The turn button didn't work. It would only go straight.
The motor is also very weak. It wouldn't work in a room with carpeting.
I'm very disappointed with it.
Remote Train
It seems to work fine. at one point it 'somehow' drove down a flight of stairs and is fine. takes a ton of batteries but I haven't had to replace them as yet so I don't know how long they will last.
Didn't make it 2 months
Got this one for my Son in August. Worked for about a month of lite use. On First set of batteries that first month, the gears started stripping and it would not turn. It just goes strait and makes a bunch of noise. We are trying to return it for a refund.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Quarry Mine Tunnel

A tunnel of fun!
My son has almost every bridge and tunnel made by Thomas, and this one rates among his favorite. He calls it the "spooky tunnel" and belly laughs each time the trains come shooting out the trap door. It is also a goof financial value since it does not cost any more than the basic ones. The only time we have had a problem with trains getting stuck is when we tried to use it with non-Thomas tracks (we have a few from the set out table came with). But with the Thomas tracks, it works fine. Just be warned that you can't back trains in through the door because it only opens one way.
My son's favorite Thomas tunnel
My 2-year-old is addicted to this tunnel! Unlike some of the previous reviewers, we haven't had problems with trains not fitting through (with the exception of the Circus Train where the animals ride up high). My son is also able to have the trains go back up through the swinging door without a problem. Great with the regular wooden trains as well as battery powered. This tunnel is an excellent value for the price.
Get's stuck
My son loves watching the trains come crashing through the tunnel trap door. But the smoke stack on the trains gets stuck in the small hole in the door. I taped a piece of brown construction paper on the inside of the door to fix the problem.

Little Tikes Big Adventures Raceway

Great raceway toy!
Two year old boy loves this new raceway he got for his birthday! His 5 year old brother loves it too. The only downside (which isn't totally a downside) is that no other cars can be used with it, since it really needs the stunt flippers to work. My boys also discovered that a ball will work too! Fun toy!

Nice addition!
We started my son off with the Big Boots Dino truck. That toy does so many different things. He loved it so much that I told him to pick another one from the box for his next gift, and he picked the chopper. He really liked it at first, seeing how most of our family is in some type of aviation, but he tired of it quickly because he didn't like carrying it around, and it doesn't do near as many things as the truck. So he lost interest. He still uses it mostly as a vehicle on the ground. He just doesn't fly it. That's not to take anything away from the toy. Just thought I'd put that thought in there for anyone else's kid that might do the same. It is a good sturdy toy, and I'm sure he'll take more interest in it when I get home from overseas to play with it, with him.

The Big Boots Helicopter is a great toy. I bought it for my four year old grandson. I also bought the Big Boots Dinosaur Truck. These toys are large and sturdy enough for rough play. My grandson loves them so far.
Creates Adventure and Fun at Home
So this has been the Christmas (and Christmas Eve Birthday) of Big Boots here in our family for our 3 year old and 6 year old. We've only had the toys for a few days, but they are played with for HOURS at a time.

They are fun, entertaining, and creative. This helicopter is no slouch - pull the trigger and your big boots guys can drop out the sides while hanging onto ropes, twirl the copter blades and they get pulled back in.

Load a guy into the bottom of the plane (from a compartment on the top), and when you pull part of the tail of the plane, the guy will drop out of the bottom. These are just a few of the features, but they are having a blast discovering everything this helicopter can do and going on rescue missions with the police car and dino truck. LOVE it!

My 1st RC GoGo Auto Ford F150 Pick Up

Good, basic remote control vehicle
This is a good, basic remote control vehicle. The battery compartment was a challenge, but my spouse figured it out, and now it's fine. The vehicle works on our carpet, and just has two simple turning directions. The noise level is reasonable. I wanted to discuss age, because sometimes the window that amazon puts on here isn't always consistent with the age that kids actually like something. So here is my observation: it's popular among the kids ages 3-5 who play at our house, and my 5 year old likes it. However, anyone older seems to play once and put it down, because it's too basic, so the age window of interest seems to be 3-5, maybe age 6.
Great 2-year old Birthday present!
Bought this toy for my son's 2nd birthday and he loves it! It provides at least a good 7 minutes of entertainment at a time (and that is pretty long for a 2 year old!). Helps to teach him hand eye coordination and it only took him a couple of minutes to figure out how to steer it. We only wish it went slightly faster, as his little brother can crawl up and steal it, resulting in a fight. All in all, a good gift at a good value.

this is a great toy for little boys lasts a long time I have one that is 18 years old and still works so I bought another one for a different boy.

Hot Wheels Basic Car 50-Pack

Excellent price.
At the cost of $1 per car, you can't beat this. The variety is great. It has imaginary cars, real cars, and even a motorcycle and some planes. I don't think a reviewer should mark down the durability just because the box is cardboard. The durability of hot wheels cars is (and always have been) excellent. My 2-year-old son regularly smashes these cars into each other (and into walls, his sisters, etc.) and they still work perfectly.
Great set for any age Hot Wheels fanatic
This box set is a great way for a casual or new collector to get into Hot Wheels. The set comes with 50 different cars and other vehicles (no duplicates) and as far as I can tell, they are not randomly put in there as I have found info from others and they seemed to have the same vehicles in their boxes as mine came with. If you don't have any or only own a few Hot Wheels, you will be pleased with the variety of cars. There is something in there for just about any kind of car nut to enjoy. I am certain that any kid would love this set as well, it's just a great set for any age group.

The box is made of nicely printed cardboard and about the size and shape of a small shoe box, and the cars are packed in tightly so it weighs a good amount. If you put them back in, be sure to do so carefully or you can damage the packaging of the individual cars (if that matters to you). The cars all come on the so called short cards, not the standard cardboard backs that you will see in...

Great product, cars where fantastic, my son loved them. The only thing I was disappointed about was the box. In the picture the lock looks real, but in real it isn't so don't be fooled by thinking its a sturdy box with a lock on it. It is just a show box with a picture of a lock. Other than the box it is a cool gift or as rewards.

KidKraft Figure 8 Train Set

Flimsy Tracks
. The flimsy tracks don't stay in place unless the kids are very careful when playing with the train. Since our 3-year-old can not achieve that kind of precision, the tracks move around, he gets frustrated and disappointed.

. The train set is tiny, it is hard for kids to hold the engine and pull the train.

. The magnet is very weak, and when you pull the train over the bridge, the rest of the train separates from the engine and goes down.

. The magnets repel each other and the units don't connect, unless the units are positioned in a particular form. It is hard to make the kids understand this concept.

. After playing few minutes, my son leaves the set in a disarray, picking up the pieces and storing them is not fun at all.

Spend some more money and get a set with beefy tracks.
Great, now I have to go buy more train peices...
Godparents bought this wonderful toy and it completely blew all the toys WE had bought for X-mas out of the water. Who knew a almost 3 year old would say," No open more presents! I want to play train!!!!!!"? Not I. I wish we would have known it was going to such a big hit. I would have bought ONLY train parts and not bothered with the matchbox cars.

*oh and FYI: they fit all things Thomas. We found out when our neighbors brought over their brand name Thomas tracks. I can't tell if we even got the right tracks back, but we still have only the figure 8 so all is good.
Keeps kids busy for hours!
This is absolutely the best thing for busy little minds. Paired with an automated train engine, it makes for unending fun. The little ones love it.

I got this expansion set for my 4 year old son. I was a little hesitant to order because I wasn't sure of the quality, or if they would fit with our existing track set (Melissa & Doug). They arrived super quick and there were TON of track pieces. Exactly what my little train track builder needed to make lots of cool configurations. Great quality, I can't even tell which tracks were from my original set and which were the add ons. great product for a great value!
More track = more fun
my kid loves trains and is now too creative for the original box of Melissa and Doug. These knock-offs fit the M&D tracks just fine and more than double what we can do with them.

Thomas the Train Take-n-Play Straight and Curved Track Pack

Update: There are 39 playsets in the Take-n-Play line as of summer 2013 - by setting a little money aside each week, Grandpa and I have collected all but a half dozen of them for our grandson, and were SO happy when Fisher-Price came out with new ways to connect them all in 2011! It's a bit surprising that while F-P widely distributed their TnP Bridge, Flexi-Track and S-Curve, they gave ToysRUs two great exclusives - this 22 piece Straight & Curved Track, as well as a 20 piece Straight, Curved & Crossings Track pack. We only paid $10.19 for our grandson's Straight & Curved Track pack, which was a great deal since ToysRUs has it at $17.99 as of summer 2013. Although all of the TnP sets connect up to each other, it's also great to have all of these other fun options. And now there's a Mini Spiral Track and a Bridge Pack (different from the "Bridge")!

Better description
Like the other reviewers, I took a chance on ordering this product. I went ahead, especially since it was about seven bux cheaper than the TRU exclusive track pack. This track pack is only straight and curve pieces -- no T-connector or cross track piece like the TRU exclusive.

It contains: medium curve x4, short curve x4, "longer" long straight x2, long straight x2 (has scenery like the "medium curve" piece), "shorter" long straight x2, "longer" short straight x2, short straight x2, F-F short straight x2, M-M short straight x2.

We like the Take-n-Play track better than the TrackMaster. The TrackMaster pieces only lasted about two days for us before trains would get snagged traveling onto certain pieces. The track spacing on the Take-n-Place is also somewhat compatible with the wooden trains we have, which is a bonus.

The only thing that would be better at this price, would be some actually "scenery" items, like trees or such to insert into the slots in...

there is nothing particularly special about this product, rather it does exactly what we needed it to. it combines all of our take-n-play structures together to create a little train city. the price from amazon was about half the price of the local big box stores. if you have more than one take-n-play structure, this is a product you are probably going to need.

Toystate Caterpillar Construction Take-A-Part Trucks: Dump Truck

Good toy, bad company
This is a fun toy when you have all the screws. However, it does not come with any replacement screws. Seeing it is a kids toy, things do end up going missing. If a screw is missing, then a part of the truck is not complete. What fun is a broken truck? I have tried to contact ToyState.com to obtain a few replacement screws but there is absolutely no contact information on their website. You try clicking on consumer service and nothing happens. No phone number, no e-mail on the website. Unless this company improves their customer service on their website, I would not give them my business regardless of how fun their toys are.
3yr old son loves this!
I ordered this mainly because my son LOVES to find out what makes this "tick" & was always wanting to take things apart that weren't designed to do so safely. This is GREAT starter toy for the little mechanic in your family. Safe, chunky parts so you don't have to worry about choking hazards & great learning toy. LOVE it!
Christmas Gift
This is a Christmas gift for my grandson so it hasn't been played with yet. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be and seems to be made very durable. My Grandson loves to see how things work, so I was thrilled when I found this truck that he can take apart and put back together. It was very well packaged so that it didn't get damaged during shipping. So far I would recommend this item.

Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway - Rocky

Nice looking, several limitations
Immediately after opening the package and getting Rocky onto the track, my son used the magnetic crane to "tow" another train back onto the track. I was so impressed with this action, that my ability to give an unbiased review of the product may be a little limited.

Sashamellow's description of the toy's limitations are accurate. But I did not feel they reduce my son's enjoyment of the toy overly much. Interestingly, the fact that Rocky does not fit through tunnels led my son to want to create a branch for Rocky to take around the tunnel which was a great problem solving task for him. However, if you don't have the extra track to make this an enjoyable task for your child, you may just find yourself trying to remind them not to try to shove Rocky in the tunnel again.

I don't understand at all what the front and back cars are for except to look just like the character from the show. My son will tow other trains onto the track, but putting anything on the...

Don't Love

- Rocky doesn't do a full rotation - he only goes partway
- The crane cord is short
- No mechanism to spool and unspool
- Rocky's two cars don't hold anything. They have a plastic divider in the middle that means that nothing flat can rest on it. In the Thomas TV series, the two cars really are only there to hold Rocky's crane when it is horizontal (and the crane rests on the dividers). But it would have been so much fun to make them so that Rocky could put 'broken down' trains on them! IBut then again I guess I'd complain that it was a departure from the TV show. =)
- Doesn't fit in tunnels and has problems up hills due to the length (had to build a side track around the quarry mine tunnel for Rocky)

If I had designed it, I would have made the side cars...
So-so Rocky
This is one of the wooden toys "we" were most anticipating, it looks like a lot of fun & The Boy plays with it, but not as much as expected. We knew from other reviews that it's too long to use on a lot of layouts, but some other stuff (and we are REALLY getting picky here... We know) the whole thing is just too clumsy on any track, not just the curves, the layout is wrong per the TV show, he should have both cars behind his main body, he is facing the wrong way (Yes, as mentioned we know we are getting a little over the top here) but the face is facing fwd and should face to the rear, that's how he is in the shows/movies and because of this you really can't play with him the way we expected, in the movie he is facing to the rear with his hook on Spencer and being pulled by Hiro... Not possible with the magnets situated the way they are. I'm thinking that I may pop them out & swap them around so The Boy can finally play this scene out, but I'm too worried that this may put me over...

Very recently my son became obsessed with "choo choos" (i blame all the christmas trains ;) For those other newbies out there - this playset is in the Discover Junction line - also called "free wheelin' trains". That means these are largish plastic engines that have WHEELS and connect via a hook and oval between them. They are the perfect size for toddler hands - and can easily be connected. They do not need a track - they are not motorized - they do not have magnets. Engine size is: 3.5 (L) x 2.4 (W) x 4.25 (H)

This playset is great! instant favorite. Actually, my son hasn't touched a single other toy since this arrived. trains in & out, helicopter flying, door opening and cloing, loading the trains with barrels or water. you name it. this is a great set! There are multiple talking buttons - they each have multiple phrases, and the voice is pleasant. so it's not repetitive and annoying.

One addition - if you tie some of the packing string through both...

My husband and i saw a TV ad for this and knew we had to get it for our Thomas fanatic 17 month old. He adores it and plays with it off and on for hours. We'd like to get the additional trains but havent been able to find them yet. I highly highly recommend this for any kid. Similar I suppose to a FP Little People set and a Thomas trainset for older kids. You wont regret this one.
Fun for toddlers too!
My 3 1/2 year old son asked for this for Christmas after seeing an ad in the paper. He really wanted it but I was worried it was going to be too young for him and he would get bored after a few hours of playing with it. Not the case! He has played with it every day since Christmas (it's now the 2nd of Jan.) He loves all the noises it makes and pushing the button which makes all three doors open at once. I will say that the doors open almost too easily and sometimes he has a hard time getting them to stay shut. That said, it doesn't seem to bother him. It's great for imagative play!

Taking Remote Control Fun to the next Level
I must say I was initially rather skeptical when I read the product description. Our family already has some experience with the Air Hogs helicopters, but adding in an automatic tracking-and-firing missile turret...I had a hard time believing it would live up to expectations. Still, I figured even if it didn't work exactly as we hoped that it would be a fun distraction for my 11 year old's birthday. :-)

When the box arrived, I was initially a little surprised at the size. I expected the turret to be bigger than the chopper, but I was pretty impressed with the overall size of the product. As with other Air Hogs products, it just "looks cool" and looks to be made of good quality stuff. As has been mentioned in other reviews, this does require 10 (TEN) AA batteries. Fortunately we had just enough. Unfortunately it took much longer to get the toy out of the box than it did to find the batteries. One thing's pretty sure...it's unlikely that the turret or chopper will...
This is a lot of fun, once you get the hang of it - but after several days of play the helicopter fizzled
You're the pilot of a stealth helicopter, flying over unfamiliar and uninhabitable terrain when suddenly out of nowhere missiles start firing at you. It turns out, there is a highly sensitive, unmanned robotic battle station designed to follow your movements and destroy you. You try to outmaneuver, but it just keeps firing. Suddenly, you're hit but you manage to stay up in the air, and decide to go on the offense, firing directly upon the tracker and destroying it in a single, well aimed shot.

Something like that, I guess, is what you have to imagine here. Or, you can just think: this is a hilarious and fun toy, I'm remote-controlling a helicopter and this robot-thing on the ground is tracking my every movement, announcing its strikes loudly in a scary robotic voice. My sons and I couldn't stop laughing as we played with it. When you have the tracker on automatic, it's just fun to watch, as it follows the movements of the helicopter. It just makes it more intense, I guess,...

Viking 15-Piece Chubbies Bucket

Better than pictured..
We bought some of the slightly larger chubbies at a store and I've been looking for more. I took a leap of faith based on the above reviews and was rewarded. The tub contained:

The best gift
I got this for my son on his first birthday, and it's the best thing I've ever bought for him. He adores these vehicles. He'll roll them across the coffee table, spin the propellers on the aircraft, bring the boats in the bathtub....totally worth the money. It's hard to find toy cars/vehicles approved for kids as young as 12 months and I have no doubt he'll being playing with these for years to come.

Melissa & Doug Swivel Bridge Train Set

Great Set for the Money
We purchased this for our son for Christmas. He was going to be turning 2 in January. He loves Thomas, but it's hard to justify those prices especially when you have other children to buy for. Needless to say, we have been very impressed with this set. It has a ton of track, you can set it up in many different configurations--I don't think we've ever done the same thing twice! The bridge and tunnel are great additions. All in all, perfect for our son at his age. And just a note, Thomas track pieces and trains DO fit with this set, which is another bonus! Another great product from Melissa and Doug.
Hours of fun
This set was a christmas present for my 2 1/2 yr old son. He absolutely loves it.
I wondered if he would be able to put all the toys together easily/by himself without frustration and he has had no problems with any of the pieces. They are very well built (and trust me, this kid puts toys to the test).

I also wondered if this set would have enough pieces- I thought perhaps I would buy some additional corners and straight sections- I'm glad I didn't. There are plenty of pieces here.
Clean-up is great, too, all the pieces fit into a small basket.

If you have a child that loves trains, I would highly suggest this!

My 2 boys love their train sets and play with it all the time. It is well built and does exactly what is is supposed to do. Anyone looking for a good train set should definitely consider this one.

Fast & Rugged
Fast car, lot of fun outdoors. It went through pretty thick grass better than I expected, but it's made for harder surfaces. Driving up a dirt hill is fun, the wheels spin out once they lose traction, which is better than not having ehough power.

You can take the top cover off similar to a real Baja car with little pins. Battery worked good, no issues. Mt dogs are a little wierded out by it ;>br/>
Really Fun!
This is one of the best toys ever! Even though I got the wrong model (I got the original instead of the improved model) it is still very fun. After a while, some parts broke off when it did a few jumps that flipped upside-down and failed. Also, the tube that holds the antenna up looks like a piece of trash, so it got thrown away. The charge is 8hours the first two times, and 5 hours after that, so I am getting another battery at

and another charger at
[...]
that charge is not a con, or a pro, because it makes it so that it keeps your interest,but it makes you set a schedule to unplug it at the right time.

A Kid's Review
F U N ! !

After a lot of web research, i bought the baja beast and it's sibling, the coyote for my father in-law's 70th birthday and his grand kids. As i was test driving the coyote the day before the birthday, i inadvertently drove it down a full flight of stairs!! my heart sank as i sensed my wife's impending rebuke. BUT, when i got to the bottom of the stairs it wasn't even scratched! the cars are built with highly elastic bumpers that protect the more rigid workings of the car. the wheels have significant independent suspensions that also help cushion falls. i was really impressed and relieved.

the battery life is about 20 minutes depending on how heavy you are on the throttle. have attempted to order spare batteries but they are not yet shipping. they are both plenty fast. we drive them on pavement and they are very responsive in handling and acceleration. in fact they both are adept at donuts.

the coyote has narrower tires that allow it...

Gymnic / Racin' Rody Inflatable Hopping Horse, Blue

Great excercise for kids and they don't even know it.
I have bought two of these, horse and cow for my grandson at his first birthday his favorite toys. Recently bought another one for a birthday present for an one year old, had parents asking me were I got them. Truely best money spent and something they can jump around on for years to come. Takes a little bit for them to get use to them,there is some balancing to learn, so getting throwed off part of the learning. but it is soft make sure first time be on a soft surface, like carpet or grass, Inside or outside Rody can go even in the bath tub he as had a few baths with my grandson. We take Rody with us every where we go and he always has a toy that is fun and he gets lots of exercise. 5 stars from this G'ma.
Tough enough for 15 pre-schoolers!
As a preschool teacher, I had two Rody horses in my classroom. The children loved bouncing and moving around the room. They are tough and can take a beating too. Easy to learn how to ride. Easy to clean. Children naturally use the ears to hold on. You should buy the tool to blow it up as it is really easy to use. But, Rody holds the air and does not need to be blown up very often. This toy is a winner for active children.
Who doens't love Rody?!
My son loves his Rody, he bounces on it all the time he even calls it by name. My only complaint about it is that when we first got it it had a really strong smell but it's gone away.
